We have done all of the downstairs open plan area in Caspar white quarter. Skirts done in same colour in gloss with vivid white ceiling & cornice. We had a4 samples of 4 Dulux whites: Snowy Mountains 1/2, white exchange 1/2, white polar 1/4. Moved the samples to every room with hubby & wrote down which we preferred. Tried them in north and south rooms in day and night light. CW1/4 was hands down the favourite. It looks great - crisp & clean with no blue, we love it. Photos were taken at night. Hope this helps.

I have a worker’s cottage that I painted a couple of bedrooms in the Antique White . I then painted the rest in Natural White as the other was too cream . I found that it was perfect as it is not stark at all but not dull . My home in the country which is built with verandahs and cast iron , I used the Natural . If you are unsure , get a sample pot of each and paint a decent section .

Thanks Kate I just went & got full strength ... There’s a big difference it grey ! I’m out of Time so will go 1/4 strength as it throws the tiny little grey tinge as light changes ..where as in my home the natural white seems to throw a slight yellow tinge .. Need to give my painters the colour & not game to risk 1/2 strength without a sample pot ...

I would paint the trim the same colour as the walls. The skirting and architraves are not substantial and don’t need to be a contrasting colour. I also think Vivid White is harsh against your floorboards and current floor coverings. Have a look at some of the Three Birds Renovating houses. They and others use the same white - wall, ceiling and trims. It’s is a much more up to date way of doing it. If you go this way you may find Antique White USA, which is generally a colour I like, too creamy.
