Need help deciding best plants for front garden bed.
Comments (6)Is it a dwarf flowering gum or a big one? Many gums affect the ground beneath them, not allowing other plant competition to grow there...except azaleas, rhododendrons and other acid loving plants can do well. Another idea is to think of some native grasses, there are some excellent decorative cultivars now that are very hardy too. Comments (5)I understand where you're coming from - while the plants on our patio and balcony thrive I've not been successful indoors (low light, the place locked up all day don't make for happy plants). Good artificial plants and flowers are expensive. For flowers look at your local nursery if they've got a décor department. Comments (83)@wuff Oh yes, the birds (and bees) are having a great time in the garden right now. I saw a group of five rather large and therefore quite heavy wattle birds trying to take nectar from the pink grevillea flowers on the end of the long spikes (2nd photo).
