Kitchen plan idea..
Comments (2)Most people prefer island benches, but as you asked which is the better kitchen? Easily, the u shape works better in this space. Because the island has no visual connection to the kitchen shown, its disconnected and looks like an afterthought, it serves no real purpose and is not relative to the prep area. It isolates the fridge and Blocks the flow into the kitchen. Whereas the shape makes a design statement with those tall cabinets enclosing the fridge, it is definately more considered, and Does a great job of connecting the walk in pantry, making the overall kitchen look bigger....See MoreTELL US: What are your kitchen renovation plans for 2016?
Comments (5)EVERYTHING! This is the old kitchen in the even older house we have started to renovateStrip everything out, wash nicotine from walls & ceiling and paint (colour undecided), replace cupboards with lime washed or antique white timber, stainless steel bench top that incorporates gas rings and sink on left side (no wall cupboards on that side), Dresser style cupboards on right hand side, maybe an island bench, knock window into french doors to bring in more light, Marmoleum on the floor (probably red).....once the builder has opened up the room by knocking out the walls framing the picture!...See MoreIs the backsplash going to ruin this kitchen?
Comments (13)Ok so depending on floor colours and overall look that she is going for I think (if she is really adamant) that the blue could work if you change the Amaro cabinets to a whiter shade - this will give it an overall crisp, oceanside feel with the warmth of the soft walnut. Otherwise I would contrast it more with a mid-tone colour splashback in grey/brown tones. Again this totally depends of her tastes... Here's a photo that you could show her with the blue splashback - granted it is a little deeper than her selection but at least she can see it on a realistic scale and of course the timber/white cabinets are flipped in this one. Hope some of that helps!...See MoreKitchen design - open plan to lounge?
Comments (31)I would suggest keeping the brick fire place with a clean up to keep the character. Agree paint the ceiling panels white however keep the beams as the are (if in good condition) to keep the character of the home. Paint the remaining walls white or light grey. The 1/2 brick white wall and timber paneling on the right side does need to come out to help you create the open plan space you are craving. The kitchen area - I'm not sure of size judging by the photo - I would suggest storage/cabinets the full length of the back wall to the windows where the dinning table is and cabinets/draws under the window also. Giving you plenty of storage for the home. I would suggest an island bench with a lower section to use as a dinning table. All your storage is in one place and allowing you to remove the storage you have across the bottom window in the lounge room. giving you more space and more light in the room. Or paint them white also. If you can remove the window coverings and replace with lighter roller blinds that disappear in the white walls or even white block out curtains. Good luck with the project from the Team at North....See MoreTina Jean
