Although an architectural feature - The ceiling is lowered over the kitchen for a very specific purpose. This is a two storey building. Already an existing single storey - we wanted to add a second storey with a bathroom above but keep the high ceilings so we have hidden the bathroom plumbing in the lowered ceiling.
Our house is under construction right now. The living area flows into the dining and kitchen.. In a single rectangular space, separated from the outside deck area by a huge glass door from one end to the other end of the rectangular space. The kitchen is on the width/ breadth side of the rectangle. I'm in a dilemma.. To give it a nice feature, should I lower the ceiling in the kitchen area?
