Marble is a beautiful stone. You will need to have it sealed regularly (every 12-18 months and unfortunately if you're a keen cook you should be warned that it can stain and acidic things like lemon juice and vinegar need to be wiped up immediately. I say this as if you're anything like me you tend to share a lot of your cooking with your splashback. The alternative would be to look for a caesarstone type material in a marble pattern - Caesarstone and similar products don't need sealing, aren't porous and are more stain resistant. Good luck.
Hi Lisa, so glad I'm not alone in the Swedish Chef category. All of the natural stones will need to be sealed and will stain given the right conditions - I think that's why the manmade stones are so popular - I hate the thought of paying so much money for stone and having it mark.
i just called the tile place and said i want to look for an alternative to marble but something that looks the same. she said they stocked that sort of thing
You could also go to caesarstone.com.au & search for showrooms in your area as well as have a look at the range available on that site. There are a couple of caesarstone options that are marble lookalikes. As already mentioned above it is much more easy care than real marble.
