What should we do with this pool fence??
Comments (9)Yeh. Sorry. Origin picture looked like fence. I live in austraila and my husband built something like that and the planter boxes. Ours is jarrah wood ( with a few coats of decking oil) and already needs re coating because of weather and living near beach. Too hot to do that now though.we are happy with the look as it's much better than plain fence....See MoreWhat should we do with our L-shaped courtyard?
Comments (79)Lovely area! You have done a great job! Just a thought i would have put decking to one side and only had one side with stone and plants as putting the decking in the middle looks like a runway. Just my opinion. Black stone would look great instead of white. And painting the back bricks would have been better with a darker colour to make timber "pop" like the colour of your fence or black like the posts. Loving your ideas and transformation is fantastic!...See MoreKitchen wall demo- do we put in high bench?
Comments (13)Thankyou so much for all the feedback and ideas. I really appreciate you taking the time to look at it. Annb1997 here’s a photo looking around to the other side of the wall. We have a big sliding door which will provide a good view out to the pool. There is currently a tall bookcase on the other side of the wall but I will move that elsewhere (not in the dining room). I may buy a low cabinet to go on the other side of the wall for storage down the track. My main reason for wanting to see the pool is to be able to see my kids in the pool whilst I’m in the kitchen (washing up, cooking etc). Plus I like the idea of being able to see through to the dining room instead of it being a more ‘closed off’ room. To the right of the dining room is a lounge room. The dining room is about 3mx3m. Down the track we’d like to do further renovations (ie. new kitchen, new flooring which would need to be done at the same time) but that may be years away till we have the money. So I was trying to be practical I suppose, and achieve what I want for a smaller price. However, I don’t want it to look stupid . Juliahocking - interesting idea about the 30cm slots.... you’ve got me thinking... I think that might look good, but I think I want a better view outside. Oklouise - I hadn’t thought of a window. Do you think that would be a more modern way of achieving what I want?...See MoreHow do we insulate our timber kitchen floor?
Comments (4)underfloor heating can be installed under some new floating floors and fitted carpets but you'd need to contact the manufacturers of the flooring and heaters to confirm precise conditions to suit your existing timber floor but we have an electric blanket style floor heater that slips underneath an area rug and is excellent for keeping feet warm under a table or desk and just plugs into a wall outlet ...we're very happy with our Coldbuster heaters that can be ordered on line in various sizes but first try some large area rugs for instant insulation that can be removed in hot weather...See MoreZoya Shaham
