We are building a new modern home. We are having a stacked stone (grey tones) fireplace with inbuilt fire that will be elevated. I was going to include a red iron bark thick wooden mantel but having second thoughts. What do you think?
Just ensure the wooden mantel doesn't clash with whatever flooring you have. If you are including timber elements in a similar stain with furniture then it could come together quite nicely. I like modern homes with rich character elements.
Thank you for your advice. It will be a big open living kitchen area with charcoal brown carpet living area and a light grey white large tile kitchen area. We are having a family dining table made from the same timber as mantel with stylish black legs. The fire place is the center piece of the room with two large windows on either side, to draw you to the fire. I was just worried the mantle may appear too high. Jacinta Jolly
