Sometimes it depends on the occupants as well. I always have warm white as cool whites make me feel a bit weird - sort of depressed. However, others love them.

Our clients came to us with a small budget, we were lucky the space had good bones, so our goal was work out smart and cost-effective ways to modernise the space. The clients already selected a feature timber bar top, which was our starting point for the design. We played around with a variety of different colours and textures to best fit out the space. We wanted it to feel welcoming and warm but also with modern touches with the black metal accents throughout. Due to the age of the building the walls were not in great shape, so I presented some textured paint finishes to help disguise the irregularities and cracking. Given we were in Yarra Valley area we wanted to make sure we didn't lose the essence of the area and kept it quite basic but beautiful. Before: After: Check out the entire project here!

Hello Jaqui. Be careful with using greys, especially if there is a lowish ceiling downstairs or limited light downstairs. As a principle I normally make the ceiling height down stairs at lease 200 mm higher than upstairs purely for the light quality. Also ensure that you trim / offset the grey with a brilliant white, or else it can look insipid. get colour samples and try them out first. Hope this helps. Alfred Botha - www.gapdesign.com.au
