Need help on kitchen splashback area please!!

Hello, please could someone help us. We are adding finishing touches to our new kitchen and can't decide what colour tiles to use for aga splashback. We like the brick shape tiles......had originally thought of cream ones but will this look ok? Photo shows fake chimney breast in early stages. this will be painted same cream colour as walls with a white painted timber cornice around the bottom.

Should the splashback tiles be cream or grey like the floor or black like the aga top?

Hi I think these country metro tiles would look great they come in a variety of shades of green and grey s you can mix them up. The finish is a slightly bumpy rustic texture that will go well with your arga. These are from walls and floors

Hi rubydiffey,

I agree with Kharis & Kale, a metro tile would be great using a couple of colours to create a pattern and some interest.

There is another company that uses a slightly different shaped tiles to create a pattern in the tiles. You could add a second colour to it too if you wanted.

Netty, firstly thank you for posting your question because we are stuck on splashback ideas also and the only difference between our kitchens is that you have opted for gloss on your cupboards and we have gone satin. We are currently waiting on our shi*take bench tops to be installed.... hopefully within the next week. After much googling, hubby has decided that he likes the glass bullet style in a neutral tone (much like the tile you have gone with but in glass obviously) and I am liking the bullet style tile also, just not sure whether glass or a mix of stone, glass etc would work. At least I know we are on the right track now, so thanks again! Can't wait to see a photo when your done (hint hint ;-) )

Thanks for a little more information. For the hamptons and a white shaker door, you cant go past marble, but if it's a high use area, consider your options in product for a less porous product. Reconstituted stones in essastone and ceasar stone both have a natural looking decor thats geared toward marble lovers. I also found a tileon houzz in the xlite range that looks identical to a Carrara, and is actually a porcelain tile, no stone mason required, no sealing,and the end result is amazing! Look up xlight! If it's a small area you can afford a little luxury for high impact results! Don't underestimate a splash back, however small an area!

Louise, your dilemma is one that pops up every other week: White kitchen. Stainless steel appliances. Seeking attractive, elegant and refined darker splashback that is good with kids. Willing to commit to relationship so should age well. Nothing too bold - something mama can adore too. If you live in Melbourne, visit the Urban Edge Ceramics store. It's more art gallery than showroom. Look at the Mutina line. Pictures can't do the gorgeous textures or it's subtlety and colors any justice. I love the exposed brick look. You can get brick slips so you put them on like tiles. I'm currently doing my kitchen and putting these in, am still looking for a company that has the right colour I'm going for. Your kitchen looks really good so far by the way!

Just for AGA cooker zone: classical creams, bottle green or deep forest green tiles (~aga colour) for elegant and practical touch.
It is not for whole worktop zone!!!

I'd be aiming to get at least a hint of green (but not as dark as the aga green) into the tiling but whatever you do, do not use black tiles! That would be a killer!
