For protection of stained wood i always went with polyreuthane. Is varnish better?

Hi, I like the overall concept of the darkish grey, it suits the home. I am a colour consultant and have been working with the Dulux range for 17 years and you are on the right track with the Guild Grey. The Dulux Signature will give you a dark blue house. Another option if Simone Weil which is just a bit lighter than the Guild Grey, if you find that one too dark. Sample pots and A4 brush outs onto white cardboard are the best way to decide, because computer programs give an overall impression of the "look" but are not accurate with colour choices, you can't beat the human eye. You can't even rely on pest inspections. When we bought our house we had pest inspection done, nothing showed in the report. Three months later we renovated the kitchen, builder discovered significant damage to the southern side of the house, had to replace a 7 metre beam holding up the roof. Not to mention damage to the kitchen dining room, ensuite, bedroom. No come back on the pest inspectors as the detail was in the fine print. They did a chemical treatment at a "discounted" price. Several months later, I could hear the termites munching in the wall. Pest guys came back again and used arsenic powder in the roof space. Knock on wood we have had none since.
