Of course its all about how your going to be using it and the layout. If you cozy up with a pet, human or animal, how that will play out. Are you watching TV or a fireplace or both. Think about windows and how they will reflect onto the TV at different times of the day. Is it a space you read in or play games etc. Also, children and pets or partners grubby socks, does it need cleaning all the time or be stain resistant. Comfort of course plays a huge role or you won't want to use the space. I would think on those things first. Remember its a big purchase and should be in a neutral color, I always gravitate toward a grey or dark leather, to ground the space and liven it up with texture and color by pillows and throws. This looks like the room is at least 7 metres long? I am not an expert but have you thought about groupings of couches and chairs? do you entertain a lot or is this simply for a family? I would have a group that fitted around the tv for my family and then add more groupings and tables to take in any view giving it that party room feel. However you need to think about how the room will be used. Latest advice I hear is don't make the tv the hero of the room but we all need to see it too.

Hi Gioenne... We are empty nesters but have two dogs (one large) which is why there is no coffee table. I've ordered two small side tables from a local furniture maker which will have a modern feel but made from reclaimed wood.. We let our dogs on the furniture so it has to be durable... I'm leaning towards modern low sofas. We entertain a lot in summer...

I think any colour rug would suit your lounge, you can be bold with colours or you can be soft with colours depending on your personality. As for a coffee table I wouldn't go bulky something streamline perhaps in a metal even a light colour timber. Have a bit of fun with mixing and matching.
