Hi mluh You've obviously done your research on these products, so it's most likely going to come down to personal preference. As you've mentioned, a natural stone is going to come with an amount of maintenance but the beauty of Travertine is within its variation. Once sealed with a good quality sealer (I recommend Guard Industry), the maintenance is really quite low and most spills are lost within those natural variations. 99% of spills can be cleaned up without too much trouble. Porcelain, on the other hand, can be quite difficult to clean once it's been marked. That said, the external porcelains have a great non-slip texture and are very hardy when used as paving/tiles. I'm personally not a fan of using them as pool coping, but many people love it. Again, both have their advantages and disadvantages so I would recommend using the product that you're happy looking at for the next 10-20 years. - Jordan

Hi there, tiles on the floor of a bedroom? It sounds a bit cold underfoot unless you are having underfloor heating installed, but then perhaps you are renovating in warmer climes than where I live! I would recommend going for a matte or satin finish in the bedroom as the gloss could look a little sterile.also If you have a connecting ensuite, you wouldnt want to run the risk of slipping on the floor if you have wet feet :o

Yes I have by Precious Tiling. For my home, we first did the concrete flooring then laid the vinyl tiles. For a quality job, the substrate must be clean, flat, and very smooth. To fit tile around pipes or obstacles, cut a pattern from cardboard and then use a contour gauge or compass to transfer the pattern onto a tile.

I received an answer from the manufacturer. They said the product is polished and needs to be sealed prior to grouting to protect the tile during the grouting phase. It will act as a grout release and will make the cleanup easier and help to protect the tile. The tile will not need to be resealed and it will not change the color of the tile. I just thought here we go when she said it had to be sealed. We did our kitchen 12 years ago and the backsplash is limestone and when the tiler sealed it and I got home from work it had darkened quite a bit which I couldn't afford with dark cabinets and not a lot of light. No one every told me when sealed the color would change. This forum is the best. Thank you for all the information.
