@jmm1837. :) I learnt a lesson when we painted dad's house Dulux sandy day with 1/4 strength on trims. He hated the colour on the walls but with the matching trims, the only wall option was a weaker Sandy Day. My last two houses have had wood stained trim or a version of Dulux White. It means I can change the wall colour without repainting the trims. I can get a lot of years out of stained trim without doing anything to it but love being able to freshen or change the wall on a whim. However my partner may not think that's so great (he's rolling the living walls as I type).

Who says you have to have the same colour inside and out. I have double hung windows that are different colours. Yes, there is a 'seam' where the two colours meet but it's only really noticeable when the windows are wide open and even then only pedants notice.

We have done all of the downstairs open plan area in Caspar white quarter. Skirts done in same colour in gloss with vivid white ceiling & cornice. We had a4 samples of 4 Dulux whites: Snowy Mountains 1/2, white exchange 1/2, white polar 1/4. Moved the samples to every room with hubby & wrote down which we preferred. Tried them in north and south rooms in day and night light. CW1/4 was hands down the favourite. It looks great - crisp & clean with no blue, we love it. Photos were taken at night. Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your comments. So helpful to be able to talk to people about this. I will get a sample of Berkshire white although I think it is too light. Bunnings have handmade linen on the wall in a display and it looks a bit too green. I will also get a sample of chalk USA as I am looking for a white for the furniture to go with a cream wall paint. Maggie I am interested that your whisper white walls didn’t show any grey look as that is what I don’t want to happen.
