Nothing goes with manor red!!

Please help me before I go insane. I have to leave the manor red roof and gutters but want to change the render colour/fence and possibly window trims. They are white and stone but I really want a White House but nothing seems to go nicely with manor red. I hate cream as that is what the Windows previously were. I'm thinking a black front door and farmhouse style porch light,2 pots either side of the door and removing the screen door.
All advice would be greatly appreciated.

Comments (29)Hi, if it's any help I went through this recently too. We built our first new home and colour selection was a nightmare for me, I wanted everything white! With so many different shades of white I was concerned we would get a 'stark' look, I can tell you that's not the case. We have Lexicon quarter on our walls, white ceiling, white porcelain floor tiles, white Caesar bench top in kitchen, white Polyurethane kitchen cupboards, white shutters, even a milky white splash back and marble fireplace surround, I thought it was too much at first...but...when you start furnishing and dependent on what style your after, I was going for a hamptons/coastal relaxed but modern style it will all come together...I found neutral colors bright pillows and soft light really make the home 'alive and inviting' and it always seems fresh, I have some of our home pictured on Houzz, just click through to my account and you can get some ideas :) you can never go wrong with white IMHO or have too much because it's always a great canvas to work with and always in style. Comments (41)Gal will go grey (mid to dark grey) over 12 - 18 months. Initially VERY bright. The energy absorbed changes accordingly, from sub 5% absorbed to ~35%. Zinc maintains brightness for longer, though still suffers some dulling. Say 5% to 15% over time. This can be avoided by coating with a product called 'Sharkhide' metal protectant, used to stop aluminium boats oxidising. For there reasons many councils will not allow zinc or gal roofing (visual amenity, reflection issues), while making the houses more prone to requiring summer aircon at the same time. Surfmist Colorbond starts around 9% absorbed. If purely for energy reasons, a light colour might be the only option. If going dark, I would suggest at least doing the 'less aesthetically important' sides and rear in a light colour. Your call. If you go all dark, ensure you have good roof space ventilation for the summer that can be closed in the winter, and lots of well installed ceiling level insulation. 7 years agoThis is what I am up to so far. Still choosing a paint colour. Windows are white on white by Dulux and the security door is now satin black. Thinking of slate grey perhaps?

7 years agoI like the darker greys in your photo, but would it be too dark with black door? I quite like this colour scheme below, which I think would also work with black accents... (screen shot of houzz photo)

7 years agoMake sure you use a warm grey - the one you have painted looks a little too blue/cold. Some grey colour schemes to go with your red roof - as seen on the dulux website.

We have just ordered a manor red American barn style shed with basalt grey roof and trims. Trying to find a colour that will look nice for outdoor furniture, climbing plants etc that will contrast with all that red. I like the idea of black window and door frames
