I'd leave the bricks ..don't paint them..such a shame if you do just as bad as rendering them..

the bricks are great. i would almost work on the garden design first and then see what needs to be done. i am thinking an off white for windows with a dark grey for fascia but the real bang will come from the house sitting in a landscape and by really vibing up the colours and greenery in it, the house will come to life. you could use the same dark grey from the fascia on the fences to pop the greenery. it is all too tonal and insipid but black will be a bit strong and there are many dark colours to choose. But leave the bricks and get the Vitamin D in the garden first - even spray your fences first - for a bit of a lift.

Dylan I'd leave the bricks like most everyone else has commented. Personal style is ok inside most of the time when a coat of paint will personalise but once the exterior bricks are painted or rendered that's it.

And whilst you're probably not thinking about resale it should be a consideration for such a huge change. I'd be afraid of restricting the market down the track, just look at how many have voted for you not to change the bricks in the comments, you've already ruled out most potential purchasers here.

Research a little to get ideas of colour schemes used at the time your house was built, play up it's design rather than try to conceal it. And research landscape designs of the time using modern plants.

Leave the backs just paint gutters and do windows up, could try roller shutters too?

There is nothing wrong with the facade of this home. Don't waste money trying to change it.

The garden needs a bit of help tho. Remove the awful concrete edging around the trees in the lawn and just have the trees planted in the lawn. Any underplantings should go as the bulbs/grassy plant in its own concrete circle - remove. Keep it simple and take care of the 2 trees that you have. A third tree towards the front to make an off perfect triangle would also help.

Make sure that you don't ring-bark your trees with a whipper snipper - this and too deep planting are the commonest causes of tree failure.

I think it's a cute home, and would look great with timber deck. Keep the Bricks unpainted. Make the wood in the deck the feature, as for the fascia I think you are right with the darker colour

The main problem is using unsuitable paint, that can trap moisture in the bricks and mortar for years causing structural problems. If painting is necessary, use special brick paint that breathes, or limewash. Recipes for the latter are on the net.
