Help with layout of master, ensuite & robe renovation
Comments (20)Thank you both very much. You've both put a lot of thought and effort into this, its much appreciated! Its definitely opened up my thoughts and ideas on the space! Its definitely not as daunting as I was thinking and it is do-able! When you look at it everyday you get a bit stuck. I guess I need to weigh up making that study space smaller. It then makes the house technically 3B 2B. But I'm going to have to compromise somewhere for this to work! Its nice to have something tangible and clear to show the builders, so thank you! I might start drawing up something that's a little of both, as I love aspects of both designs. :)...See MorePlease help with layout for Master WIR & Ensuite
Comments (27)the shower room is about 2700 long and wet shower floor about 1500 so dry standing space should be about 1200 and towel rail about 2.5m away from the shower head so heated towel rail shouldn't be a problem ...the sliding glass door is meant to enclose all the moisture within the shower room and to be kept away from all the other rooms while still allowing light from the skylight to be shared with the adjoining rooms by retaining the slope in the existing ceilings and adding a ventilating skylight directly above the shower and adding fixed panes of glass in the wall between the shower space and the other small rooms and having just the 2200- 2400 tall partition behind the bed and between the ens and wiw...the wardrobes could still have the storage built up to 2400 and the dust can just stay where it lands and sparkle in all that lovely light...sadly, i have two perfectly sized Velux roof windows awaiting a new home but transport costs could far outweigh the cost of buying local but i've occasionaly seen them offered on Gumtree etc so start looking...See MoreHelp with a master bedroom and ensuite layout please
Comments (10)Hi CC, my suggestion is the same as others, but make the two wardrobes into a walk through dressing room, by removing wardrobe internal walls. This will not reduce hanging space, and make the area visually larger. Depending on the style of your home, install a barn sliding door at entrance of wardrobes. Regarding the tiling. I suggest having the entire bathroom, toilet, WIR area the same flooring. If you are having carpet in your bedroom, then finish the carpet at the entrance to WIR. You could have carpet rugs along walk way to bathroom, for cold feet. However, if you are having floorboards in your bedroom, then continue them into the WIR as your thoughts posted previously. Finishing at bathroom entrance. This will be a well used area, and either tiles or floorboards will wear better than carpet. Are you having a door on entrance to bathroom? Thanks....See MoreHow to reconfigure master bedroom walk in robe and ensuite?
Comments (21)thinking about the rumpus and wine cellar my suggestions keep most of the original walls with the cellar built in the garage with no external walls to improve insulation and temp control, uses the old single garage door space for an optional entry porch and has the new bar in the old gym maybe replacing the sliding door with a servery window? and the opening to the rumpus could have optional doors to separate the rumpus and bar and keeping the angled wall (and matching ceiling?) in the rumpus could be a good location for a small heater and there's more wall space for enough furniture for a crowd and i've added some suggestions for the bathroom with a separate powder room with vanity and, based on family gossip, a wine cellar this size should have enough space for about 1500 bottles and a small tasting table and chairs!! avoiding changes to walls and adding new doorways instead keeps the original ceilings, avoids unnecessary demolition, is cheaper and saves money that will be needed for new finishes...See MoreCL P
