Morning Jon, we didn't stain the wood as it is already that look. We used a 100% natural oil with no varnish/stain so it spokes into the wood and doesn't sit on top. The wood is called Kebony, a heat treated product which doesn't twist/warp and stays looking amazing for many years. Strongly recommend it.
