Comments (39)That looks so much better. Definitely make chair covers for the rest. I've used aqua accessories in my room- a throw, some coasters and a leaf shaped bowl for the table which has a silver outside. You can always change the accessories with the seasons (I have a red throw for Christmas time) . I'm also having a dilemma with a large window. Initially I'd wanted plantation shutters in white to replace the dark red cedar venetians which made the room gloomy, but I'm now thinking of softening with semi-sheer curtains. Comments (7)I would actually try a glossy black, or perhaps a japan black stain with teal scatter cushions over your neutral cushion. Glossy black looks great against blues and green, its a simple classy look and its easy to change it up with scatter cushions should you decide to use it elsewhere in the house....See MoreUpcycle ideas please?

Comments (13)I wonder if you should look into this a lot further. I find it hard to believe that you can't sell a house in the kind of location you describe, walk away, and find a nice place maybe in one of the more peripheral areas, that will meet your requirements, give you cash in hand, and not touch your $100,000 nest egg. No, you certainly wouldn't end up in the inner city but you could end up in a situation that provides the facilities you need and gives you a financial cushion. That said, my real concern would be how to make this house workable for boarders while preserving your privacy. I think you need to provide a floor plan of what you have for anyone to make anything approaching informed advice....See More

7 years agoLovely reuse of old water tanks. Is the dog upcycled too? We have an 'upcycled' dog i.e a rescued one lol
Photos? Not enough space!!! I upcycle everything I can. Rags to rugs. Teapots and cutlery to windchimes. Newspaper to bowls. Old wood, fence posts and cutlery to candle holders. Books to cards. Louvres, lampshades, jewelry, kitchen utensils, furniture etc etc. can all be reused to make awesome 'new' stuff!I luurve upcycling :)
I could go on and on...........
This is a garden gate I made from stuff lying around our last house........ (and I am a little bit proud of this. Unfortunately had to leave it behind when we sold the house)

7 years agoI made this mirror using an old mirror from the tip and scraps of timber. My husband helped me make the oval frame. It weighs a ton and some of the edges of the glass are a bit rough, but I love it.

Up cycling is the in thing .
Just a few pic's showing a few ideas of mine using both non- treated recyclable timbers ( pallets and other timbers used for packing ) and some treated timbers "where required ", combining old kitchen sinks and laundry tubs and old semi ridged plastic signage signs sourced from tip shops and garage sales ,etc .
Ideal for kids play ( mud) kitchens / planters and my latest upgraded design for
a gardeners cleaning and potting work bench ( as well as for cleaning fish / BBQ 's food preb./ cleaning benches etc) .
For those local here in Tasmania can contact me for further info and prices but those of you interstate or even overseas, can contact myself for one off designs for a kit form design.
Anyone interested in seeing a TV programme produced on the subject of specialising in re - use / up cycling of what many coincided waste products ; I would like to get some feed back so i can approach the local TV stations to see if they would be interested in producing such a programme on the subject .

Just a quick follow up to my previous comment and pictures .
Here's one using an old modified kids swing frame and old discarded packing boxes similar to those used by freight co's to freight your belongings ( old tea chests etc) into a kids play house .
The frame from local tip shop cost me about $5 . All timber sourced from local company for free (although new nails and screws used) .
Scaled down pallet frame work made into small modules for flooring .
The dearest part was the colour bond for the roof and corners ( flashing ) cost about $65 . Overall outlay about $120/155 to make .

7 years agoAnother two creations of mine using old washing machine tub clad with timber for an out door planter and old marble slab cut up to make two planters with tas oak legs made from salvaged timber from my house Reno.
