Need someone to help alter existing timber kitchen in Sydney
Comments (4)If you do this first step, a local handyman in your paper would be capable of UN/ installing it for you, the benchtop manufacturer will come to you, measure and quote off plan, and install for you. The only things is organizing an electrician and or plumber to disconnect during your removal, and then re fitting after it's done. The same trades people will do this as it's common practice. Send me your list of cabinets and room layout, I can make use of them for you, then it's a matter of contacting a handyman to reinstall for you. I will make a list of existing cabinets and note any new ones that might be necessary, keeping that to a minimum. I am a kitchen designer and have lots of experience in doing this. Yu simply go to a. Cabinet maker with your list of a few cabinets with all your preferences made, such as selecting a door profile in your solid timber from their catalogues, or a match your happy with. You can say you Want a quote for new tops and some cabinets, without knowing the details, most would be happy to do this for you, it's just the first process I mentioned you need to do, as they have little time to think for you. Where possible save time and money by planning it out, and then it should go well....See MoreRoller blinds or plantation shutters??
Comments (34)Curtains are coming back in at the local display homes and look very luxurious. Plantation shutters look stylish in the right house but I agree with the comments about the potential to look dated if not a good match for the overall house style. Rollers remind me of schooldays when the teacher set up the projector to show a film while the students struggled to get the blinds to stay down to darken the room, but modern rollers are a simple window covering which can be a good thing if all you want is something that opens and shuts in the background while other features of the room stand out. For something you'll really be happy with you need to be weighing up personal taste, house style, window style, functionality, maintenance, room usage, window orientation, etc. You can choose the trendiest look but if it's a nuisance to live with because it doesn't provide the required light/dark level or privacy or is noisy in the breeze or whatever, it is not the right choice for the purpose....See Morecabinet maker put the wrong sheen cabinets on wall
Comments (34)Yes it’s done now. It will be easy to match the upper ones later on as I picked a neutral white. If I have the bottom cabinets removed, the new cabinets will be a different size to the existing ones, meaning tiles will have to be removed. Removing titles often causes tiles to be damaged and I cannot find the same tiles I have in the kitchen anywhere and they extend throughout the whole house with the exceptions of the bedrooms. Regardless, the upper cabinets are useful whether I find a way to repair the bottom cabinets or replace them. I have had two seperate tradesmen say it’s not possible to remove the shelves of the lower cabinet without replacing the whole cabinet....See MoreWhat to do with existing pantry cupboard
Comments (17)Hi Jimb Omm, I agree that you don't need a really deep pantry for it to be efficient. 400-500mm is pretty much all you need for the largest items and drawers below eye height can be made shallower than standard to give you access to all small items so you aren't reaching behind things to what you need. I would not bother moving a wall for the pantry. Seems an expensive option for little benefit. Door from hall to laundry is a great solution as most laundry comes from the bedrooms and bathroom. Are you not renovating the whole kitchen?? If not, you could also store crockery and other items used in the dining room in the old pantry nearest the dining room such as place mats, table cloths, if you use them and cutlery etc. Irregularly used items store up high such as table decorations for christmas, platters etc. This can easily be combined with a coffee/drinks area.
