I have had a similar problem having chosen and purchased travertine tiles for the bathrooms and kitchen and then we we decided to tile the rest of the living area and couldn't match the tile we already had, I was in a huge dilemma. Fortunately I found a plain tile in the same tone which should give my living area a different and moden look so my suggestion is to do as I did, and find a plain tile that matches the same tone as your existing tiles and you should be pleasantly surprised. I would definitely ditch the brown marble and go similar to the window sill. It is just beautiful. It looks like Carerra but you can find similar tiles that are from Chinese quarries. Marry it with white paint and add white and grey tones to your accessories. You could accent it with any color as it is a neutral. Brown dates very quickly where is white marble is timeless and classy. Good luck!!

I love our glass splash back. We choose an electric blue as the rest of our kitchen has a lot of timber, white and windows. Easy to keep clean, withstands the heat of the stove and you can choose any colour you like. you can even match it with an existing wall colour if you wanted to. The aluminium one sounds good, but I think that in our climate with salty air and a lot of moisture it would show corrosion spots very quickly. macymacmaples, I agree that there are a lot of choices for tile, but the 'easy to replace' comment doesn't really make sense to me. Then again, I have no idea how easy it would be to replace our splash back, which is wedged between the overhead cupboards and the benchtop - I still love it though, even after 10 years!!!

when i think of subway tiles i think lots of grout - which i personally dislike. but put in what makes you smile and happy! we have gone super large tiles to reduce the amount of grout :)
