Help for exterior colour scheme
Comments (6)Dark grey roof. You could keep the windows neutral which would be subtle and clean but you could also accent them if you wanted them to stand out more and match the rod colour... Another option you could consider is dark roof and a lighter shade of grey for the window frames... I have attached a few quick photos sorry I've done this from my phone so not the best.. But hope this helps illustrate what I mean. Cheers Marion...See MoreExterior colour scheme + colorbond roof
Comments (9)Hi Laura, I love the idea of checking your current paint samples ... sounds like something I would do too ;) I think Dulux have a visualiser app/website where you can upload a picture - I think you can select colours from your current photo and it will give you an idea of the best colour match (which might help you determine the paint colours in your current photos) and also do your own make over by selecting colours you like and applying them to your layout - I'm not sure how accurate it is but could be worth a little play to give you a start in which direction to head in?...See MoreSeeking advice on an exterior colour scheme

As you are looking to sell it's important to look to the street your building on and the colours of the houses around you too. Will you be having the front facade fully rendered as above? If so keep the tones neutral to appeal to a wider market. This size house is probably going to appeal to a professional couple which means they will want something with not too much maintenance. A colorbond roof is a great choice for security and ease of maintenance. Choosing a charcoal like Monument for your roof and gutter adds depth. Consider Surfmist for the Fascia as this will lift and lighten the front. For the Front Portico Piers I would choose a contrasting render colour to add depth to the design. Your window frames should match your roof. If you do an Aluminium framed front door this colour will be the same as your windows and you would want to match your front door to it. If you do a timber front door frame you can paint your front door and frame the same colour. which will be more consistent and appealing to the eye. I wouldn't suggest doing anything too wild colour wise for your front door as you have a narrow facade and it will polarise buyers. Keep your garage door as close as you can to your render colour to give your facade the illusion of size. An exposed aggregate driveway in a colour such as Labassa would pull it all together. Depending on where you are building, the other consideration is Developer Guidelines. If you are doing a knock down rebuild this won't affect you, however if you building in a new estate your Developer may require you to stick to a colour palette they have created. I work for a Volume Builder as a Interior Design Consultant. I hope this helps. Cheers Deborah...See MoreExterior colour scheme for home with colourbond rivergum roof

The midtone colour in that brick is also a purple brown in a natural mineral, in artists land that colour is called Indian Red, other similar hues are perylene maroon and piemontite. I'm an artist so very used to seeing different colours and their undertones. Colours that will go with that will be blacks that are actually red or purple based. So NOT monument which is a blue based charcoal. Blacks come in many different tones and it's important to match the undertone to your brick for colour harmony. Blacks which are complementary or blue based will stand out more but may not go as well. Which is why the grey blind seems uninspiring, it's a blue based grey. I'll name some colours in the Taubmans brand. I didn't pick Dulux because it has an abyssmal colour selection atm. Phantom Myst and Fable would both be good blacks to use on your home. Ruby Rose and Redwood and Russet stone would all go with the brick colours. Unless you train your eye to see hues and undertones it's very difficult to spot them which is why a colour consultants have a job. If you're interested learning colour mixing is fascinating there are even hues like red-blues which sounds paradoxical but ultramarine is actually a red based blue' A hack for creating colour palettes super easy. If you have Photoshop you can show it a photo and it will automatically create a perfectly co-ordinated colour palette for you of 6 or so colours which are exact matches to the colours in the photos. Any photo at all, and it will spit out pantone colour codes for you that you can take to paint shop and have them mix up. It picks up some dark, mid and light tones and you can have it create monochromatic, complementary, split coplementary etc palettes that work beautifully....See Morebigreader
