Need Help with my Kitchen and bathroom
Comments (4)Surely you have a basis to start, as you would definately know what you like and don't like. Start collecting images either online on houzz or pinterest, but also from magazines, this will start to form a picture that you can start imagining rooms from. Kitchens and bathrooms have built in fixtures that being semi permanent will be the hardest thing to select. Again draw inspiration from images and don't fuss over what's the kitchen trend of 2015. That's a gimmick, the trends are driven by you! The consumer, and they change as th year progresses, the tip is to stay true to your own tastes while learning and taking on board new and innovative things of the moment. If your thinking about a space that you want neutral and modern, then natural tnes and textures in your materials is the way to go over colour choices. Natural finishes include raw materials and tones, like timber, stone, concrete, glass and steel. Then there are textural and tactile elements that either have a visual or actual texture, like fabrics, again natural fibres are on trend like linen and suedes. Patterns at the moment are either organic or geometric. Organic are natural soft forms that work well with natures colours like greens, reds and blues, while geometric patterns are most dramatic monochromatic or tonal. start with these ideas, and think about fads, what's in right now most trendy will fade away quickest, so unless it's really you, thi about longevity and good design....See MoreNeed help with kitchen pendant
Comments (25)Hello Kelly! The drawing of your soon to be kitchen is amazing, the exposed beams add a raw element and texture to the room whilst keeping the space feel open and inviting. You mentioned you wanted to place your dining table in the opposite direction with white chairs. I get the feeling that you might like a more eclectic or scandi look, timbers and whites! The above pendants you mentioned you loved are beautiful woven baskets, however as someone else mentioned these styles will cast shadows due to their cut outs. To counteract this try using some low wattage globes (if these pendants are only decorative) - look at using downlights for task lighting. Here's some inspiration: You could try these pendants if you are fond of the timber/woven style: https://www.golights.com.au/tuukka-halonen-pilke-pendant-light-in-black-white-or-natural-birch-60cm https://www.golights.com.au/secto-design-seppho-koho-victo-pendant-light-natural-in-46cm https://www.golights.com.au/graypants-scraplight-pendant-light-moon-in-recycled-cardboard https://www.golights.com.au/herr-mandel-lampframe-pendant-light-wood-34cm https://www.golights.com.au/nordic-tales-bright-sprout-pendant-light-wood-holder-w-white-cord Or if you want to add some glass to balance the textures you could try these: https://www.golights.com.au/tom-dixon-fin-light-pendant-round-13-5cm-brown-blue-silver https://www.golights.com.au/pendant-light-metal-industrial-vintage-glass-14cm-in-black https://www.golights.com.au/sandra-lidner-selene-pendant-light-in-clear If you need help find us here: https://www.golights.com.au/ or cal us on 1300 798 220! Comments (114)Ground floor we are thinking of going with this one. I am not worried about northern sun now, as with our landscape it is bit hard to try another shape and we feel like this layout of kitchen/dining/living gives us the most usable space. We might put a tall window above the kitchen bench instead of an overhead to get more light in. I have added a hall way table at the entrance, A bigger study/office, Linen/broom/storage space, laundry has external access. For the First floor we are leaning towards this one, which gives more space and big robes in bed2 and bed 3, also a WIR for his&her. 1800mm vanity, walkin shower and bathtub, a small balcony enough to put chairs and a small coffee table, we may make the balcony a little bigger as the master bedroom is now 4x4.7m. What we think is with this configuration 3/4 people can use the family bathroom area at the same time. I am not much worried about the bed orientation, this configuration work for us, anyone buying, its big bedrooms, they can put it anyway they like. Thanks to all specially to @oklouise and @differentways who went above and beyond to draw the designs for me, we wouldve put the toilet at the bath with window as differentways. suggested, but. then its too messy with robes and bedrooms get small., We dont want any robes sticking out, a wall to wall robe will give that luxury feel. We also like @dreamer ensuite design but again i think this one gives a different feel, something out of the box, what we usually see like in hotels. Also thanks to @macyjean & @Kate some of your advices were very valid and got us rethinking a lot of stuff. And thanks to all the others who spend there time looking at the design and reading the long messages and giving there much valuable opinions, every little suggestions are important. I know its not finished yet but we are almost there, if there is anything to improve or if i miss anything please let me know. We really value your thoughts and suggestions. We are very happy this turned out this way....See MoreWhat colour for my kitchen breakfast bar?
Comments (9)Is your heart tugging you toward one palette choice, Anna? I’d go for the blue option because that one calls to me, but it’s not my home. None of your choices would be, in any way, questionable or the kind of trendy which would affect your home values or make you want to change it out after a few years. So, at the worst and you can’t choose, toss a coin, you can’t go wrong....See MoreSteph
