We have a similar problem in that we really don't like our brickwork in our 1980 built home and have the dark brown window frames. Some people just can't understand why we dislike the bricks and I thought they may grow on me. After 4 years I still can't stand them and can't wait until we can afford to render. If we had a small area like yours I would have got it done long ago. Ours is huge. Don't be tempted to bag the walls. I've seen some shockers, usually people trying to do a cheap 'flip'. As for the windows, my uncle who is a painter & decorator said that as long as the frames are cleaned well they are OK to paint conventionally. The channels will be tricky, but ours need new felts etc. anyway.

There's a very similar vintage house near my work. They left the bricks as is and painted all the woodwork a sage green. Then they planted a lush green plant filled front yard. It looks great.

Hi helke, how different we all are, I think your door is fabulous, by adding clear glass to the side, you will look at your door in a new light , to have such a unique door, you are very lucky. Also by adding decking and landscaping you will love the contrast the render will give to the overall look,you will love how the different textures will blend together to give a beautiful look, but we are all different and you should do what makes you happy every time you walk up your garden path to your home.

I think everyones on a similar thought process about the house colours , and I'd go dark too . The garden is alright , and is actually more modern than the house IMO -- it all suits . You could go maybe some lancewood and flax and more modern , but I'd keep the older base . Some things I would look at though -- the driveway looks a bit wonky , and the left side a lot older than the rest . I'd be tempted to dig the left side up ( it looks to be panels so a bit easier ) and redo that side in one pour , and maybe see if you could 'fill' any wiggles up the other side . I'd probably paint the garage door , monument would be the logical choice but it may be too much / too dark then ? Light tones won't suit , who wants greys , browns are yuck , and even my go-to of an orange or yellow or even red might look too try-hard with your brick . And one last touch -- I'd add a dark ( charcoal probably ) cap or even 100 x 100 square brick laid horizontally along the top of your front fence , to tie in with the cap on the left side post , but also your house . Just a little feature that will add a finishing touch IMO .
