shower/bath options if shower drain is the only one in the bathroom?
Comments (3)Hi. If you have an existing drain via your shower, this can be converted to take care of a bath shower combination, even if you also need it to be a wet floor drain. A bath waste is normally a 40mm pipe, so if your existing pipe is a 32, you might need to do some conversion...See MoreShower/bath combos
Comments (2)Bath tubs come in a huge array of sizes and shapes. You need to do a 'stand test' in any tub you're considering, i.e. literally hop in and stand up and check that there isn't too much of a slope and there is a big enough flat area to manoeuvre comfortably and safely while showering. If acrylic tubs aren't seated properly during installation they will flex and move quite a bit underfoot when you're showering whereas steel tubs feel very solid to stand in. Comments (2)A separate bath and separate shower are the best value for everyday use and for resale. The shower/bath combination is historically a hangover from Britain, where most people used to have a bath, instead of a shower. Most Australians prefer a shower to a bath, and a shower over a bath is always a compromise. Having access to a bath is important for a family with young kids, but you don't need a huge, long bath for children, so a 1500mm long bath is ample for kids, but a little cosy for a tall adult. As far as resale goes nobody ever did not buy a house as it had a separate shower to the bath, but a shower/bath combination can be enough to turn a buyer off. Comments (9)We've got 2.4 x 2 to play with. We put baths in the last two houses we reno'd but we had bigger spaces. We feel now that possibly it's better use of space and functionality for the house to have a bigger shower, bigger vanity and no bath. Our kids are 8 and 12 now. It's funny about the children and bath thing, as we've debated that back and forth for this current reno but at the end of the day we barely used the bath in the other two houses anyway, granted the second one the bath was the last thing added lol so it was really too late but we were in the first house up until when the kids were 7 and 4. We used to bath them in the laundry sink when they were babies! Then they used to just shower with us. :)...See More- 8 years ago
