The girls agree with you. They like the path shot, and I think we can have the pair of this pic blown up and framed. They also wanted a bit of family, so I found three similar shoulder on head shots, of the girls with their father, grandmother and then an old pic of their father as a child with his mother. The poses are similar, and I think I would frame them and put them along the top.

Maybe a nice rectangular artwork the same width of the cabinet above the TV or an interesting fabric wall hanging to match your decor...or you could have, again above the TV, a timber shelf that matches the timber in the cabinet or that in the floor...or that is painted to match the wall colour, having an ornamental front that would hide the power points....Did that explain the shelf? I'd do you a sketch if I knew how to upload it. Unless you are a minimalist you could have one or several interesting objects d'art on the shelf (no flower vases with water) or some books with classy-looking spines in a row between ornamental or plaiin book ends.

I'd go for a sepia toned picture in a dark frame -- as close as you can match to your bed and cabinets -- get a photo you like ( even a modern one , a personal family pic or a sunset or whatever takes your fancy ) , get it sepia toned and printed around 40x 50cm , have the frame at least 10cm wider ( with matt white card infill ) so it all looks period . You can even do smaller ones for the other walls . I know you want something you've made yourself , and I can understand that , but I'd reinforce Dr Retros comment that it could easily detract from the aestethic .

No you can't see yourself in the mirror when sitting but I agree, not nice staring at yourself in the mirror while trying to talk :) What colour placemat/runner you suggest? @bigreader thanks mate for your time. I know, the mirror is the wrong shape and colour, what do you suggest? @Julie Herbert great advices as usual, thank you. I always enjoy the idea of a try but don't know what to put on it? Should it be something tall to lift the table up rather than small tiny flat objects? @dkin0577 thanks for your comments. Yes, agree, round mirror would be nice, what colour ? That one is a tall floor lamp next to the door. Hardly use it but there is no other room for it :)
