Drab country-style dining room - HELP!
Comments (17)What a great room - the potential here is endless! The curtains definitely need to come down first, they completely overwhelm those stunning windows. I'd go for super soft white, sheer, floor length curtains, and the walls would look beautiful in a beige color with white ceiling and trims. Can you afford to replace the blue lino? Even if it's just a different colour lino in a neutral shade like cream or beige it would make a big difference. The tablecloth could be replaced with nice placemats (white or natural fibres) or if you really love tablecloths go for one that is a bit more neutral like white or beige and have a nice centerpiece ie a small plant, vase, candles or similar. Also add a few decorative items to the sideboard on the right - a lamp (with a WARM white bulb of course) is a good start plus provides lovely mood lighting to dine by. Good luck with your makeover and happy decorating!...See MoreRustic kitchen upgrade- anyone good on photoshop?
Comments (10)to be honest, I think once you see the place empty and not with the current owners belongings things will change. Also living in a place is really different from walking through it. The charm of this space is the floor and the wood work. I think over the course of this house's life many wall have be taken out, to "open" it up, this is great but it creates a choppy effect. and that might be part of the problem here. You may find moving the island, painting changing out the lighting and fans perhaps changing the counters would be enough to let you keep the wood and floor the same. I would live in it for several months, to find out the function, before the form....See MoreLarge country living room layout ideas
Comments (3)something like this with TV and/or heating and storage on the wall opposite the double doors and low cabinets with art work and/or open shelves along the other wall and lounge chairs in the window space that can be rotated for TV or towards the views...See Morecountry style ideas
Comments (6)You could try going on fiver. Somewhat safer than having a random come into your home at the moment. Fiver can give you a idea before you touch base with an actual designer. Take clear photo's of what it is you want decorated, upload to whoever you pick on the site and pay them $5 or whatever there fee is. Obviously you want to check out there profile first. Send them what you want making sure you explain in detail so you don't pay for something you don't want. Ask for a timeframe and wait. That is just one way to go if you don't find someone in your area. Most designers can do all styles but obviously have their own specialties. You can always ring any designer to discuss over the phone / video call (some charge) and get a feel for them, they are and can be just as picky about the clients they take on and if they don't think you and them are a good fit they maybe able to recommend an industry professional. Good Luck with your hunt....See Moreminnie101
