Help with tile choice & crazy idea for 1940s Queenslander

We have a beautiful 1940s Queenslander on 15 acres in Brisbane. We are in the middle of our renovations, and waiting on the marble look quartz benchtops, so I need to choose tiles ASAP. I want a white transitional kitchen, blending rustic farmhouse with modern and creative.

I have hardwood floors, rustic wood beams, farmhouse butler sink, grey crackle provincial handles, modern appliances, white cabinetry.

I plan to make a custom rustic wood feature light with blue mason jars. One crazy idea is to use old leftover wrought iron veranda trellis as a decor feature above the windows. IF I can find a good welder. Is it crazy cool or bat shit crazy?

And tile choice has been agonising. I have narrowed it down to either a long subway herringbone or a basketweave modern 3D, but shallow, subtle and soft tile. I wanted to add colour and artisan, so thought a few feature blue hand painted Mexican tiles.

Do I go basket weave or herringbone?
Or other (so sick of standard subway)?
Mexican few feature tiles?

Veranda wrought iron, yes or no?

Other ideas?

Thanks!
