We have a glass rangehood similar to Futuro Futuro's Acqualina Glass product and I love it. The top and bottom of the glass gets given a clean about once a week with citrus multi-purpose cleaning spray and then wiped down with a moistened glass cleaning cloth for a pristine finish. Takes around 5 minutes in total. Cleaning the brushed stainless part is more difficult. As mentioned previously, its hard to remove all the marks. Will definately try the WD40. Me, personally, I don't like the mirrored finish. Given the window is acting as the "splashback" I would have gone for something invisible like what Sheryl Horton showed.

To Ella Kate Thrupp....."a woven piece"...as in a wall rug or a tapestry suggested by yours truly and Tribbletrouble441452k7 Trek? Or maybe you have a more novel idea in mind? Have you come across any "woven" art in your professional travels? I have a friend who actually weaves tapestries on a loom as they did centuries ago thread by thread. They are exquisite and each a unique artwork. She works professionally on commission Very time consuming, meticulous and expensive and she also does it simply for relaxation and sells them. Wonder would there be anything along this line available commercially today? Such a "woven piece" would make an enormous impact in any room, so beautiful and unique in a bedroom especially if a design woven to order...but Yikes $$$$$. Afterthought...a painted MURAL designed to order might be a touch of luxury if you engaged somebody to do it and they presented you with a series of pictures for you to choose from.....that would not fall down! I did one for a friend's guest donga in Charleville QLD...she wanted a fantasy and had a lot of input herself, it was a collaborative effort and she got exactly what she wanted. Can't go wrong with a mural...can always paint over it when you want something different.

So the primary focus of a splashback really should be function for sure – it needs to be a smooth surface that can be wiped clean quickly, effectively and bw waterproof. But that’s not to say the splashback shouldn’t look terrific in the process, either. These days they are anything from tiles, glass, acrylic, pressed metal.. even art! :) I'm gauging from the responses so far mirrors 'do' tend to go 'hand in hand' with hand washing. On this particular project it wasn't a necessity and offered an opportunity to try something away from conventional design so to speak and allow for a corner art splashback to take pride of place in an unexpected place. I'm enjoying the comments and the thoughts Houzzers are sharing on this poll. Civic Steel I've been informed more selfies have been taken in that small bathroom than any other place in the home recently which was amusing to find out :) and Jmm1837 I've completed many feature walls and art installations, I may possibly have to consider working 'around' a mirror on future backsplash projects. have a shorter recessed wall cabinet for storage and if necessary have the balance of the space fixed mirror.....you should find something suitable at a fraction of the cost of custom made but strongly suggest that you don't have the vanity hard up against the glass screen (a gap is useful for hanging a hair dryer or hand towel and allows easier access to clean the glass screen) we've been disappointed with custom made vanity and wall cabinets which were more than twice the price and no better quality
