You have a lot going on texture-wise so I'd probably keep it simple in terms of rug texture or there'll be too much going on at once. Warm would do well in this room though, so that's good! You mention it's away from the light outdoor area, is this photo an accurate representation of the lighting you normally get in this room? So in summary, you might want to have a look at rugs that don't have much texture, and are a bit brighter in colour to help brighten up the room. The room looks lovely. The rug is too light in fabric weight - it could be dangerous if someone caught their toe under it. And as mentioned by others - you need some colour. I know that it is advised by some people that a mat should go under the furniture, however, that is not always possible.

I don't know about it , can you change it, you can have modern and different but I think your tv unit is mid century style and table is Well I don't know what style it is than you say you want tribal . As someone suggested earlier , stop shopping before you move in it might be all wrong and your taste and ideas might change by then. Trick in decorating is to be patient and only buy when you are absolutely sure that you can take it back. Ha ha.
