A large mirror above the hall console will add some light and is always a good idea in an entry so that guests can check/fix their appearance if the weather was bad on the way to your home. A light coloured entry floor rug would help lighten the area and also catch any small stuff on shoes that may scratch your beautiful timber floors. You could install an attractive glass pendant light on the far left as you enter or alternatively sconces either side of the mirror or a table lamp could be placed on the console table. Once the mirror is in place you can decide if you need a bright large piece of art for the opposite wall which will be reflected in the mirror.

It all depends on how you want to use your front yard. I live on a corner block and in an old suburb in Canberra, where hedges are everywhere and for good reason, Privacy! You're front yard is a little more magical too when you aren't exposed to the street. I definitely would plant a tree in the corner so in time it overhangs and softens the driveway but please research the tree first or it could be a disaster. If you're not into hedges then garden beds at the front and around the corner, edging is a must, maybe a sculpture or garden feature not small but more of a statement piece. first try and identify the exact species and Google specific propagation advice..is it a native plant or one of the traditional English Ivies usually the easiest way to strike ivy cuttings is to half bury it where it's wanted but for your problem plant try cutting away some of the leaves, scraping a little skin off the bottom end of the cutting, dip in honey or rooting compound before planting in damp seed raising mix in a pot enclosed in a plastic bag in a bright room out of direct sun and wait.. but sometime the only way to strike a cutting is to throw it into the compost and allow the plant to decide if it likes your garden..
