Would love to know what people think, what will add value?
We have a double garage under the main roof of our home (need to park single file though). I am wondering if there is more value in keeping it as a garage or using it to increase the living area of our home. My thoughts are to convert the space into a walking robe for a small bedroom plus a large dressing room and study space off the main bedroom. There is room on our block for off street parking and a carport could be added in the driveway.
Interested to hear what people would value most in a home.

Definitely sounds like a great idea to convert space if you need it, and as long as not needed for outdoor storage. The main concern will be the cost of lining the space for use as an interior, and at least you are not planning to put anything with plumbing there! have fun!!

We had a similar garage and covered the back half (closest to living room) into medical room. Left one undercover garage and more living space.

Thanks for your comments guys! @siriuskey that's what I am thinking. But just not sure how would it look if I have the front door 2040 high with the highlight window above so hopefully in total as per the picture it would give the look of 2340 height and then will keep all the other doors 2340 high Just not sure if that would look good or not @dreamer i actually really like the door in the picture without any glass panel. But at the same time I also want some light coming through our north facing entrance that's why thought of the highlight window above It would be really good if I can get a side light with this 1200 wide door then I am happy to keep all the doors 2340 high

Have a you a block of land already? Which part of the block faces north? If you are just looking at facades, then yes it is personal opinion. The orientation of the home to get as much winter sun into living areas is very important. Do not look at designs of an actual plan until you have a block. Then the shape of the block and the correct orientation will dictate the facade, not the other way around. I’m in Perth, and summit homes is an excellent builder. They have been successful for about 40 years, and are always adapting design and their building products to current building requirements.

I think undercover parking is sufficient and I would personally prefer more space. If you are talking about adding value for sale, many people work from home some of the time these days and would value a home office.

Depends on the buyer when you sell....

If you're going to convert it then convert for you. That will add value to your lifestyle.

Make sure it's all council approved otherwise it's a waste.

Tandem garages/parking aren't easy to use so if you have alternative parking for two cars, preferably under cover,convert it with council approval to add the extra internal space you need at the best possible cost.
