love your windows and feature wall..check out some mid century exteriors for inspiration..i suggest a simple flat roofed covered "colonnade" from proposed new carport across front of the house with columns to match the high fence and a double drive through carport to allow rear yard access with broader frontage add compact gravel or aggregate driveway and wide path to front door and some extra roses...nb rough sketch not to scale

Thank you Okloiuse, For the time you have taken with your scetch, I can't read the writing on the plan. I already have a aggregate circular driveway, the carport would have to go out the front somewhere, because we have big trucks using the left side of the of the drive for deliveries. I like your idea of a flat roof colonnade. Happy Easter!

thankyou and Happy Easter to you and yours....obviously a drive through won't work on that side with trucks but the same collonade idea with a double carport at the front with translucent section above the windows of the house OR subject to available space what about a separate carport in front of the walled garden with access to the new front porch from the opposite end of the house (opal coloured lazerlite has a good light from inside the house and looks white from underneath and sorry about the unreadable size of writing) btw please advise measurements of width of house and distance from the house to both side and front boundaries to invite more suggestions for the carport as it would be better to plan the whole front yard even if you're not ready to do all the work at once

Hi there Double D, you have a very pretty house the windows and stone feature wall are wonderful.

I was thinking that perhaps you could put a flat roofed portico out from your entrance similar to the photo

without the extra pitched roof but by replacing that with a narrower pergola across the front, it would have similar flat exposed beams as per the photo and would allow light into the house

with future plans for the double carport to come out from house over the circular driveway( where to car is currently parked)

so two cars parked side by side parallel to the house, built in the same style as the portico, this would depend on how much space you have and the set back from the boundary allowed to build

The Icebergs would have to be transplanted, if you were concerned about light getting back into the house you could add some clear panels into portico Happy Easter to you as well

Hi Oklouise, the house is approx 20mtrs longs 9 mths wide, I am 9 mtrs from front boundary ,and 9.5 on each side of the house, we are on a corner block so we have to have a clear view when reversing out onto the road. The solid brick wall you can see on the right is where my pool is, on the other side is access to the stables. You are right in saying it needs to be planned together so it all ties in

Hi Siriuskey, thank you for your input, I like you idea of the double carport out front which would make good sense, As you can see from the pics I have a lot of colour bond, so I would like to use other material for the carport and portico. And do something with that horrible sliding door at the end, which is my office, but was once a single garage. It was like that when we bought the place.

Oklouise, I have looked at mid century in photos and I'm afraid I didn't get much inspiration, maybe because I really don't like that style, but I'm saddled with it. I love Hampton style( way before it became popular in Australia ) but being realistic, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear!!! Unless I completely renovate, and this isn't my forever home, so not worth spending to much.
