Thanks all for the comments! I have styled the rest of the house to a T but the master always seems to take a back seat when life gets too busy after the initial moving in stage. I have removed the wedding photos (actually, they're only there because my hubby is away for many months and I like to be reminded of him) - but, I agree - they don't suit! We have bedsides that match the bed but this space is too narrow for them to fit in, so the current ones are a stop gap while we wait and see if hubby's work is going to move us elsewhere next year or not. If we are staying, new bedsides or bedroom suite are the on the agenda. Based on tips here, I've turned the doona over for a simple white with navy dots pattern, removed the wedding pics, and simply put my woven wreath on one of the hooks, with the other hook to be filled when I find something. It really wouldn't be cost effective to do anything to the bathroom as their is no real cheap option. To extend the step, you would need someone qualified as you could potentially damage the property and your friend's investment. It's an odd bathroom but I have seen weirder. A shower with a sink and toilet inside it. At least your toilet is outside the shower. Its hard to say what is under the shower, but it would be a better option to level the shower with the toilet area rather than fiddle around with making an extended step. And it maybe cheaper for you in the long run. You could ask your friend or the real estate to knock the rent down if you fix the problematic bathroom as your investment will boost up the future rental potential. That definitely looks like a safety hazard which they could potentially be liable for if you hurt yourself. Is this a house? or an apartment?

Hi Wish, I agree with the above about doing white as a staple. If you feel like a change up you could also explore some textured bedding and play around with some softer tones of pinks, purples and blues to play off the dark wall. I also love greys and blacks as well. I dont know what your setup looks like exactly but if you can afford to buy multiple sets of linens go for it!
