I need help with my entryway/foyer.
Comments (10)Have you considered asking the landlord if they can build something for storage in this area? If they simply nailed a sheet of plywood under the first (shorter) layer of stairs it would hild things over there, and maybe made a door that closes, attached with hinges to the wall to the right it would hide what is open there. Both could be painted white to match the walls. I can't believe you are the only person that would complain about this when they are renting. It honestly wouldn't be that expensive for them to do. I actually kind of like the antique dresser. I think it feels "dominating" because of all the things on it. Maybe just clear it off and let the piece speak for itself? If you think it needs to have something on it, I think the 2 candlesticks should be all there is....See MoreHow to create an entrance
Comments (11)I agree with the suggestion to grow hedges or shrubs on either side of the stairs. I would suggest replacing the existing pots on either side of the top of the stairs which much larger "statement" pots with some interesting, tall and narrow architectural plants to create an artificial "doorway" and somewhat "grand entrance" onto the deck. I would potentially compliment those pots with some smaller, rectangular planter boxes around the edges of the deck (with much shorter, but complimentary plantings) to enhance the feeling that it is an outdoor room (and to prevent anyone from accidentially stepping off the edge of the deck). I would also re-arrange the furniture so that there is a clear thoroughfare from the stairs to the timber doors. And I would consider creating a faux entry feel by removing the blue box/esky (?) against the wall between the window and door and replacing it with a small, durable/outdoor "console table" and then hanging an appropriate outdoor artwork or even a mirror above the table. For example: http://www.bigw.com.au/home-gifts/home-décor/arboreta-mirror-107699.htm This might help the space to feel more like an "entry". You could even go for the obvious and add a "welcome" mat outside the door and/or a painting with "welcome to my/our home" (or a similar phrase) on the wall. Comments (4)You actually have room for a couple of closets that would back onto the side (long) walls of the bedroom. one would be between the window and the ensuite and the other would match it on the opposite wall. You could put sliding doors or bifolds on these and walk up the middle of them to your door to the ensuite. I'm assuming your bed is in the "bottom" part of the room nearer the bay window....See MoreBuffet Table for Entry Hall Way.....suggestions
Comments (7)You just need to purchase an appropriate width console for that space. There are a lot on the market which are 1200mm or less. Which would be 100mm either side of console table. As @bigreader has said a large indoor plant may look better in the corner. Add a floor runner to add texture and warmth....See Morerubyclaire
