Outdoor entertaining area

I'm having a lot of difficulty on designing an outdoor entertaining area and need some assistance or ideas if possible. The area is around 4 x 6m and runs along side of an outdoor area and pool, I will attach images for reference. We are looking at adding a rendered fireplace either at the end or to one side. I'm also wanting to build in a bbq, fridge and possibly a pizza oven. I just feel that every angle it is blocking a section off? I'd like to have seating around the fire and if possible an outdoor dining, we could place this under an existing structure. We are looking to continue the existing floor throughout? I know I have a lot to squeeze into a small space. Am I being unrealistic? Thank you in advance.

6 years agoThank you. I have attached a photo to show what the courtyard looks into. At the moment we have seating but are happy to change, I have considered the kitchen outside however one side is glass pool fence and the other is a whole glass sliding door. The measurements for the pizza oven is 1170 x 880 and the bbq was approx 1000 x 500. No need to access the pool from the courtyard however on the end from where the photo is taken there is a grassed area so will need access from there. Just really for smaller gatherings, we love to entertain so just small groups.

Comments (7)Were the original plants Ficus by any chance? There are trees that you could use to fit in between those day beds like the newer mop tops - not the Robinia which suckers profusely. You dont want anything too big, just a small tree with a trunk and a canopy. I would put them in between the seats and at each end and you can keep the canopies trimmed. Ficus should NEVER be planted anywhere near homes, not even as street trees - their roots are just appalling. They are great in pots, but leave them there. Comments (3)it depends on what the space will be built out of, how big, do you want the floor at the same height as inside or at ground level, how do you want to use the space, your climate, the inside rooms and do you want to connect the two spaces with wide opening doors.. what about shelter for wind and rain and bugs..do you want a roof and walls?? a simple pergola covered with shade cloth at ground level with some pavers could be the cheapest DIY option for a few thousand for materials and time and effort...anything more elaborate will be more expensive...See Moreidea for rear wall of outdoor entertainment area
Comments (4)If you are doing a Hamptosn style renovation then I would be consistant, and play up the symmetry, such as in this photo. You really want the pool and outlook to be the focal point, and not your splashback. I would go with a mirrored splashback to brick more light into your space and provide a better connection with your pool, rather than making the splashback a feature element.
