DEADLINE DESIGN: Dream home must-haves
Comments (12)Love the bathroom! Mainly the tiles and colour choice. It does feel very disjointed in my opinion from the style of the bedroom (see below photo). the bathroom is so modern and sleek but the bedroom is so loud with the wall paper and clashing seat at end of the bed. Then next door the parents retreat/lounge that you access the main bedroom through is all green and bug pictures. Other thing I question is the choices in the media room. Client asked for recliner type seating and a projector. They have him a $22,000 TV (projector would have given bigger picture at fast less cost) and these recovered foam chairs that don't recline and don't have a high enough back to lay back into them. Shame as the roof of the media room done like a night sky and the Doctor-who lights were really cool. Bet the owners change the chairs as they just wouldn't be comfortable....See MoreWhat are the absolute must-haves in your new kitchen?
Comments (6)Hi Complete Kitchens....Yes, I realise that 20k could get a good standard kitchen (our own one recently done was about 26k including scullery), I'm more talking about the ones that talk about doing kitchen, bathroom, painting and even moving some walls on 20k. What my point was, is its great when people like you actually give an idea of a cost of a project - it's easy to get fired up with inspiration and then get thoroughly dissapointed when reality hits! Things are expensive these days and I think for some who may not have done any renovations to their house for years, they don't really have a lot of idea of the costs involved....See MoreIdeal family home build must haves?
Comments (7)Love; internal garage with remote door Walk in pantry ( no door as faces no public space so always accessible ..have 5 kids) Ironing board in drawer ( we have in kitchen, as laundry in garage ) Spice drawer ( a drawer with spice boxes laid flat ...nothing fancy but love it!) Family / dining/ kitchen ..no tv Tv in small lounge 4x4 m Big enough for tv and two couches only. Watching the news That's all we use the room for it seems as everyone has own device. Again no door on room, a wide opening, floor to ceiling so feels spacious Wir off ensuite...so no one sees anyone naked going from bathroom to dressing room..unless you want too Dog flap in side garage door so Dog can come and go if out. We have an acre . She can't access house but has her bed in garage at night. In day she is on our beds! Kids wing..parents wing. Or a separation somehow 10 cm thick laminate bench if can't afford stone 1200 wide hallways North facing or north facing light getting in somehow Out door hot water heater thing. Cheap to run. Hate; Should have put a solid door on ensuite. Not a $50 Bunnings door etc if you know what I mean...core door? Anyway, would have been quieter at 6 am with him sloshing around in there. We put a solid door from hall to garage, just didn't think about men getting old...:) If you are going to have power points behind couches/ beds etc have some exposed so you can charge laptop/ iPad/ phone while sitting on said couch We added one later as we built pre smart phone . At side of couch on wall opposite ( 50 cm away)...See MorePOLL: What's the best kitchen layout?
Comments (35)Jacqueline Macho, I agree the sink between the two pantries would be too dangerous. I would check the measurement for your work area between the sink and cooktop. As you have a large cooktop and sink between the fridge and oven...is there enough room to do all the food prep? I love a clean island and have never liked the idea of having any cooktop on an island as it seems too dangerous. A large sink takes up too much room on an island, especially if you’ve forked out for lovely stone or granite. I have for my new build, which we have been in for a month now, put in a small round bowl. I’m glad I did as I use it for food prep, and it has filter water for drinking. It doesn’t compromise the look or use of our island. I have a large and deep sink in the butlers for doing the washing up. I only have one dishwasher...yes folks just one. As my benches are 950mm high I opted for an Asko xxl....they are taller than others. After renting a house with a fisher and paykel dish drawers, I swore never to have them in our new build. So I personally can’t recommend them. Others might like them. Kitchens cost so much that’s why we obsess over them....See MoreNoura Homes
