I would paint your bookshelf the same colour as the walls and stuff it with, well, books! I would paint the built-in corner unit to match and just use it for potplants - ivy that hangs down would look good. As for the coffee table, if the room is small, what I did in our little family room was hunted around and found a large curved hunk of tempered glass from Freedom and it sort of 'floats' and looks invisible in some lights. Seriously, I think the line was called Ghost and was very reasonable (they also had a side table to match). Throw a bit of cherry red around and see how it looks with the creams and the taupes. Hi Tania, Congratulations on getting this far, It can be so baffling to take a project on by yourself, furnishings and design. I believe a monochromatic colour scheme is always interesting when pairing black, greys and whites with different textures. Black is one of the few colours that actually matches with everything, It is the most versatile of colours. Any style, including scandinavian, industrial contemporary or mid-century modern can incorporate black into the colour scheme so whatever style you choose will work fantastic and timelessly. How many art print to hang above the couch or bed? depending on the size of the works you choose, one in a landscape layout above the bed of a series of three may work equally as well. Q3. I prefer pic 1 due to the lighting and the warmth of the timber aspects. However, I agree that there is too much open shelving and would put a full sized mirror on the cupboard over the basin - only in show homes are peoples' cupboards full of nicely spaced expensive bottles of hair products! Mine are always just full of "stuff". Also, I find pic 2 just bland and uninteresting - and it highlights one of my BIGGEST pet hates - the placement of the toilet paper! I have yet to meet anyone who is able to be sitting on the throne, and reach backwards, either over their shoulder or under, to easily reach the toilet paper, and it would fill me with fury several times/day! IMNVHO, toilet paper holders should be placed either to left or right of toilet at just above knee height while sitting - anywhere else and it becomes the dreaded gnashing of teeth at Form over Function!

Lovely room, large art on wall, gorgeous chair by the window and lots of texture in cushions and throws.
