Is it worth renovating?

I have been going around in circles for a while now deciding whether to move, renovate or knockdown rebuild. We have a basic red brick veneer 3-bedroom house in Toongabbie, NSW. The last extension was done in the 70s. The photo is old, but the house has not changed much. If we were to renovate, I would want to:

* replace the smallest bedroom with stairs (and storage) leading to a second level with a master suite (with ensuite and WIR), bathroom, 2 bedrooms and sitting area

* Change configuration of back door and windows

* Replace all windows and frames (adding double glazing)

* Replace current bathroom and kitchen

* Change tiles and carpets to floorboards

* Render the external walls

* Paint internal walls.

This does seem like a lot and I have heard that it can be better to just start from scratch, but we don't want a project home. Would it be worth doing such an extensive renovation? Would anyone have an idea of the ballpark cost? Any advice would be appreciated!
