John Wyndham's "Day of the Triffids" from 1951 comes to mind. Once the Triffids were tamed the remodelling of the home and interiors turned a very ordinary 1980's reno into a warm family home.

    Hi cloudpants, Art deco? Yes with the curved corner. It had a rather week portico which we remodeled in a more regency style. The client grew up in a Regency home in Sydney. I guess it is a hybrid now.
