Agree with sian, paisley is so versatile, although I would use it in a sophisticated context other than kids rooms, as I feel the bohemian, colored version is polarizing, the more classic, muted tones in naturals teamed with the organic structure Adds personality to otherwise over contrived and stuffy interiors. Paisley is neither masculine or feminine, so perfect as a partner to a plain pattern or solid colour. I think paisley is better as an accent fabric rather than a basic, however it's easily evolved, so I can see it always being relevant and interpreted across trend changes. Currently, I prefer the inky colored indigo and navy's, or the tan and pastel combinations.

I did not even know about this! I am now interested in this a lot. Some people say it is 'easier than wallpaper, lasts forever, and peels off clean when you want to change'. I also want to know about the wetness of the starch.

I had a 2nd hand lovely resort style lounge (cane with fabric) which quickly became pulled and tatty after my 2 small dogs had been using it. The leather lounge & two large leather recliners I have show no damage (regardless of long or clipped nails) and both pets love these. Having a blanket the dogs know is theirs is a great idea especially with leather, as the initial cold feeling of leather means both dogs only want to be on the blanket.

Go the diagonal! There seems to be a lot of dead space in the middle. It seems like a desk/office area near the glass doors. I would move the TV there at a diagonal over the fixed part of the glass door and circle that with the couches/seating. Couches don't need to be up against walls as they are usually heavy enough to stand alone. The feet of the couches should be on the rug and only just enough room around the coffee table to get to a seat at the couches and get to the TV. I would tuck the office (if that is what that table is being used for) closer to the kitchen facing the glass doors. The path to the opening part of the doors will then be behind the couches. Since you will be able to see the back of the couches you can buy sarongs/material to drap over the back like a shawl. Pick some that match the rugs with a very simple pattern.
