What's the worst uninvited guest you've ever found in your house?
Comments (133)White-tail spider in my track suit pants WHICH I WAS WEARING! I thought it was a lump of lint from the laundry, drew it out, and promptly flung it across the room once I realised... never to be seen again! How it didn't bite me and sat still to be picked up, I don't know - it must have known I wouldn't do it any harm. We lived in lots of country places, too... We were invaded by small black crickets one year, and lady bugs, another year, in your drawers, in your hair, in your pantry, in your undies... everywhere! And then the blue tongue lizard that would go in and out with our dogs via doggie door, and made itself a nest in our laundry... I gave up and left some old towels for it. Had an echidna get up into the wheel well of our car... wild brumbies in our patio... the list goes on. My husband still says that the most unwelcome visitor was his mother... I like her better than he does!...See MoreWhat you all think of this house plan?
Comments (45)Sorry, but I'm not a huge fan of the revised floor plan either. It still ignores the fact that the fourth bedroom doesn't really operate as a bedroom, due to the sliding door, absence of a BIR and vast distance from the main bathroom. In terms of the changes to the living area, it's great that the front door now has line of sight to the living area / backyard. But, the kitchen seems to be awkwardly positioned, especially the location of the fridge. If you had a built-in study nook beside the fridge, it may work, but then you'd have to move the BIR in Bed 2 and it could end up quite a small bedroom. I'd be tempted to separate the kitchen and the pantry. I would put a galley style kitchen, with island bench, behind the theatre room wall, then leave a gap for the hallway to continue in a straight line and put the pantry in the "corner" created by the walls for Bed 3 and the garage. But, I'd still really encourage you to give further consideration to the plan from a liveability and, if it's an issue for you, saleability perspective. The plan you posted on Sunday seems like a better starting point to me. The three non-main bedrooms are grouped around the main bathroom. The theatre room leads off the living area, making it easier to use that space as a playroom for future children. And there seems to be ample room to navigate around the dining table....See MoreAround The House with Houzz: Managing your renovation project

Comments (3)I happen to love shaker style, but it kind of depends on the mood/style you're going for in the rest of the house. Your floating shelves are already a bit modern/transitional, and most of what you see from the back of the island is glass upper cabinets so I think you could easily go the modern/transitional direction with the clean doors. If you're more into traditional, and are planning on going that direction with light fixtures and furniture, etc., continue with the shaker....See Moreoklouise
