Not happy with timber island bench, what can I do??
Comments (46)yep, stunning. I been drawing something similar for a while and it's awesome to see your ab fab results after your OP. I got interested in some ikea solid timber benchtops, not nearly as nice as yours, and thought I'd combo them with black cabinets, white stone and white walls (just a "what if" design). so I totally love your kitchen. it's great how well the tiles look now compared to when you first posted, they really excite me! and the lightshades against the black wall. and what's that dining area I see? that smoked glass table top with timber trestles and black chairs and that black and white rug? where you get those?! I want to see more! congratulations, it's hard not to gush! big ups to Mldesign too....See MoreNeed help with kitchen pendant
Comments (25)Hello Kelly! The drawing of your soon to be kitchen is amazing, the exposed beams add a raw element and texture to the room whilst keeping the space feel open and inviting. You mentioned you wanted to place your dining table in the opposite direction with white chairs. I get the feeling that you might like a more eclectic or scandi look, timbers and whites! The above pendants you mentioned you loved are beautiful woven baskets, however as someone else mentioned these styles will cast shadows due to their cut outs. To counteract this try using some low wattage globes (if these pendants are only decorative) - look at using downlights for task lighting. Here's some inspiration: You could try these pendants if you are fond of the timber/woven style: https://www.golights.com.au/tuukka-halonen-pilke-pendant-light-in-black-white-or-natural-birch-60cm https://www.golights.com.au/secto-design-seppho-koho-victo-pendant-light-natural-in-46cm https://www.golights.com.au/graypants-scraplight-pendant-light-moon-in-recycled-cardboard https://www.golights.com.au/herr-mandel-lampframe-pendant-light-wood-34cm https://www.golights.com.au/nordic-tales-bright-sprout-pendant-light-wood-holder-w-white-cord Or if you want to add some glass to balance the textures you could try these: https://www.golights.com.au/tom-dixon-fin-light-pendant-round-13-5cm-brown-blue-silver https://www.golights.com.au/pendant-light-metal-industrial-vintage-glass-14cm-in-black https://www.golights.com.au/sandra-lidner-selene-pendant-light-in-clear If you need help find us here: https://www.golights.com.au/ or cal us on 1300 798 220! Comments (7)Couple of things to consider..... 1. With any lights above a stainless steel sink, the reflection appears on the ceiling, I don’t like it so I installed a black sink. I added very minimal pendant lights, basically they are spotlights on a stick but they can be dimmed. Also I placed mine off centre. Saying that, spotlights can also be dimmed and sometimes, less is more. 2.Pendants in the bedroom can be quite tricky.. Example...they have to be the perfect height, width and as far as a reading light, they’re not adjustable. They cost more as they need to be installed. If you don’t like them, you need to get an electrician to change them. I originally wanted pendants but opted for lamps, happy I did as my bed couldn’t quite be centred so it would have been a mistake. Good luck, hope this helps....See Morependant down lights over kitchen
Comments (21)Looking at your lighting plan, it isn't not enough lights, it is where they are positioned. The three lights above island should be spaced directly above island for task lighting. Your plan has them across the kitchen, the same as other three in the middle of the kitchen. If you look at the photos that have been posted with pendant lights, they are all positioned over the island bench, not spread over ceiling. Hope your choice of lighting works well....See MoreNorthstar
