a new standard sliding glass door would be around $2000 plus at least 1-2 days labour, say about $1000 for a carpenter and bricklayer and the plumbing would be around $500 per day plus materials but depends on what needs doing and it can sometimes be cheaper to block off the existing pipes and start again elsewhere so i would allow about $5000 for the basics but there could be a better and/or cheaper option.....please post a floorplan showing what is already inside the rooms and explaining what you want to achieve
Moving waste pipes in a slab will quickly add up but on bearers and joists it isn't too bad. If relocating plumbing will really improve the space then do it, forget about the old wives tales of being too expensive, etc. Nothing is cheap with building/existing dwellings as its mostly manual labour and difficult to do properly. Once its done, the space is improved significantly then to me its worth it. oklouise is about right $ wise.
there is nothing on the other side of the window plumbing wise. it is a living room however kitchen is nearby. I will take another photo of other pipes. I think it could supply water down to tap in backyard which we could cut off and move somewhere else.....
This isn't a big job to do but there are a couple of things to be aware of.
I would speak to a company in your area that does this for a living. They do exist!
They will have their own trades that will do the assorted little part far cheaper than what you will be able to arrange.
Things to keep in mind are;
Existing bricks below window need to be vertically cut down the window line which means you will have raw edges. The half bricks are usually removed and turned around so that you have the reveal (inside edge of window) showing face brick. We use an arbour saw to do this so it's no big deal.
The sill you have is hopefully made up of solid bricks. You will need solids for the bottom course of the doorway itself unless you place a sill tray over it all (not ideal)
The new door way will have a reveal on the inside and depending on the flooring you will now need an extra strip of whatever it is to extend into the opening.
The new doorway will need either patching of the render inside or re-doing of any architraves. If it is brick veneer then happy days as internal gyprock is easy to sort.
REgarding the plumbing it depends on where the supply is coming from. It's not a big deal to terminate and remove.
Again, companies that do this day in day out have all of this sorted with their own trades and can usually sort it in a couple of days.
