I like the bricks in the fence and you don't want to paint or render this, as you would be providing a lovely, fresh canvas for graffiti 'artists' to scribble on your walls. However, you could create a border area just in front of the fence and plant some shrubs or narrow trees. (Just saw a segment on Catalyst on the ABC the other day on types of trees which help to filter out pollution from your home. Silver birch trees seemed to do well, whilst taking up very little space and being quite sparse.) Even a border of mondo grass would be good, though this is very short in height.

I have installed the same product (Grasscel) here in Perth for the front yard which accesses the garages, so I actually turn on the grass and reverse into the garage. we have had it in place for almost twelve months now and I drive over it at least twice a day. It has held up really well. The grasscel product doesn't require the cracker dust or blue metal underlay, just levelled and compacted sand. we chose a hardwearing grass variety and have had no problems thus far. I would recommend it as it is really nice to have the coolness of the grass as opposed to any sort of hard surface driveway. The reticulation is installed prior to the laying of the cells and it looks after itself. We fertilise to keep the more trafficked areas green and leave the cut a little longer on the grass. Try diggers paint brush restorer. Small patch first, you don't want it to spread it. Failing that there is a company called So Safe. It produces graffiti remover and will get rid of that in minutes. My guys use a lot of it with very good results.

Probably not a bad choice actually. We'll be seeing a lot more of these permeable driveways in the not to distant future as they reduce rainwater run off from our sites into our gutters. Use a combination of both concrete and permeable perhaps. Such as where you park the bike on its stand or do bike maintenance use concrete. There are other permeable pavers available as well as these ones, council's use them a lot around parklands, trees in footpaths.
