What can we do with the front of our new home?
Comments (11)Sydney is out of my comfort zone for plant naming. I would still use the line of trees on RHS of driveway. I would clear the area on the left also. Consider tall trees towards the front of your property with open crowns. Double storied homes need tree height to provide balance. Closer to home maybe one or 2 smaller deciduous trees to give shade in summer. Retain the LHS of driveway with large embedded rocks. Maybe only native Lomandra with only 1 variety in pockets in the rocks. Very simple concept, but I believe will add real value to a good home. Please bear in mind that this advice is from a photo only....See MoreOur front living room needs help!
Comments (12)I have attached a new layout, taking into account the new, and important information. I would move your lounge to the wall where spinning wheel is. Move spinning wheel to corner window. Swap tall buffet with lower buffet. Put small chair in corner where television is. Take the two large lounge chairs out completely. They are too bulky for the space. Replace with two high back chairs in your wonderful teal colour. Add a round gold table for chairs. Then these could be used to watch television. But look wonderful when people are entering this space. The lower buffet will be behind these chairs, therefore the teal will stand out against the rich wood tones of buffet. You have unique pieces, people should be able to see them at their best....See MoreBefore & After: Renovation of our 1956 red-brick triple-fronted home
Comments (37)Thanks Jeanne and Janet :) My kitchen is certainly earning its keep during lockdown here in Melbourne - excessive amounts of cooking and baking happening ;) The renovation was great practice for lockdown, with three of us confined to bedrooms and a makeshift kitchen for a few months while the house was dismantled around us. Jeanne, the tiles are Hexion Snowflake from Southern Cross: http://www.scceramics.com/ProductsDetails.aspx?ProductRange=Folio&InvtID=B790-88&SelectedBy=Designs...See MoreNeed help with renovating our front facade
Comments (27)I guess it depends on your budget , but I'd start with the obvious -- the paint . It looks 'dirty' , so I'd pressure wash . But it does look better in the for sale picture , and I suspect it has been photoshopped . Anyway , if your budget extends , maybe paint that couple of shades lighter . Again , budget matters , but I like cedar or similar timber garage doors , so that would be an option . The door , to me , is the least of your problems . Then I would go darker on the trim . The gutters I'd go the same shade as the roof , and carry that through to the vents , and hopefully the windows . Then the trim that can be seen under the gutters , I'd go halfway between the gutter colour and the wall colour . That would soften things . For a Wow , and before anyone says its a different style , I know , BUT I'd do the 2 fake columns in a small horizontal slate -- that would add a touch of class and variety IMO . But we are all different !...See MoreC P
