Garage conversion - Any Ideas to hide garage door?
Comments (17)Hi. We were just discussing same option on the weekend. Our solution was......make up a timber frame to cover door ( like a false free standing wall) insulate with batts to reduce heat/ cold/ noise if required and then just gyprock over. You could actually do two false walls so if at a later date you wish to remove just half for whatever reason, it would be easier. These walls could even be on sold at a later date as there is def a demand for similar fit out. For the single door, you could always put cupboards under and then build them in by creating a false bulkhead to hide the roll or move one of the cupboards and construct a built in media cabinet with bulkhead once again to hide the roll. Hope this helps. ☑️...See MoreNeed help on garage door colour by tomorrow! Anyone?

Comments (10)Starting point of works may be the garage door but the starting point for the look has to be the roof. Do you like the green roof or would you like to change it’s colour? Second. When you arrive home what do you like and dislike. For me, and it is personal, I find a brighter entry more welcoming. So I look at your house and feel more welcome by the cream garage doors than the front door. Which seems hidden but should be the welcoming feature. Hey but we mostly drive these days so the garage needs to be welcoming too. Pottsy’s image above , which I love, has a lot of cream to brighten up the dark bricks. I’m not sure if you have enough timber to paint around your windows to get the same effect. I’d maybe look at rendering the porch and matching the garage to it. Painting the outside of the windows to match. If you don’t want to render Porch I would do a white front door. And create a path to the street. So should you paint or replace the garage door. Firstly I don’t think the trim works as you don’t have arches anywhere else, If this can be removed and doors function then paint. And we can’t forget the role plants play....See MoreDesign help- garage or extra living
Comments (8)If you have 1000+ square metre block, then I would knock down the garage and let the light into your home. Build a freestanding double lock up garage in the back of the block somewhere. You already have three living areas. Opening the side with light will feel completely different and will seem like you have another room. And you will have complete driveway access to the rear of your land....See Morepurplewombat
