Your island could create some issues near the outer wall. If you move plumbing it will add a lot of extra. Could you put benches around where the kitchen window is and along the back wall, and have the cooktop on the island? Bump out the dining room wall going out to the covered deck and replace with sliding/stacker doors so that it's the same depth as your kitchen. Keep your idea of knocking out the wall between the dining and lounge and keep the door in the kitchen to reach bedroom 3 where it is - or open it up a bit more to really pull together the open look which will cut down the foot traffic you'll use to get to bedroom 3. Blocking air from the front door isn't a problem as you'll have a bigger set of glass doors at the back and the front window in the lounge will create plenty of cross breeze and the front door to kitchen windows.

Thanks. The calacatta engineered stone bench was from a wholesaler in melbourne at the time (Polygramm), then i used his recommended stone mason who cut everything on site which took a whole day. Its equivalent to the top ranged ceaser stones... saved a few thousand after getting many quotes! Glad i chose engineered stone as i nearly went timber.. i use it everyday and its copped dropped glass jars, wine/beer, you name it.. couple of light scratches but a product called gumption seems to 'cut and polish' everything out so far. I am carefull though to use wooden chopping boards though. Very easy to clean too, i would certainly chose these style of bench tops over anything else if i was to do it again. The cabinets are by flatpackkichens in melb, they offered 50mm increments in cabinet sizes so made customising for my compacted space easy. Pretty sure they just order the doors from Polytec, which are vinyl wrapped gloss classic white in a style called sofia or atlanta (think they are the same). Good luck!

Blue Gum floorboards how could it not look beautiful!! and yes wheelchair friendly although if we were in a wheelchair I guess we would have to move closer to town and transport and shops as this house was going to be in the country talking of moving... husband has caved and said we can move to the Bay of Islands whoop whoop! he still wants to go to France for 2 years but he said we could build or buy before we go so that changes the type of house now because we were building near a school and families this will be more a beach house that we can leave for the kids to enjoy and various friends who want it while away so I have swapped the master over to be away from the laundry garage door and hot water heat pump which is quite noisy and the guest rooms now have a Jack and Jill bathroom I haven't changed the footprints at all it's still the same size just changed the layout a little bit The bunk room would have a sliding door outside which means you could access that part of the house privately without coming through the front door or the bunk room could be a small kitchenette /come dining room / come lounge room (very small ) and rent it out as a 1 bedroom self contained apartment Once we live there full time ... will upload a photo in the next Post
