when u open my entry door, you will see floating stars going to upstairs...i wanted to do it on that wall....a few people r saying that the floating stairs will be the feature on their own, but i think having the 3d wall attached to stairs will continue the flow of the WOW factor and look stunning...who knows!! :/ maybe I'm wrong...

I’m pretty much with .dreamer, but 50s furniture would have been placed in houses with wainscoting, so not odd, what is throwing me out is the cool colour of plaster. Start by painting it to match the wainscoting then reassess. Colour and warmth can be added by your wall hangings and furniture. Natural white is slightly warm, could go warmer shade again.

The timber battens on their own will not block a lot of noise but if you were to do that you could line the wall behind them with a sound blanket. Real timber is slightly thicker than mdf so it does do a slightly better job. However sound travels through solids, you need something to break the transmission.
