Flick-mixers are the bees-knees of taps, everywhere! Other than to match a period decor, I don't understand, why anyone would want conventional taps anymore. Here's why: There is only *ONE* piece of tapware to clean per basin; they are quick and convenient to use, especially if you have frail hands, soapy hands, small hands, anything; you can set them to a certain position and then 'off' and 'on' them without having to re-locate your preferred temperature again; the flicker handle is positioned over the actual sink/basin, so wet hands drip into said basin and not on your counter-top. they come in plenty of stylish designs.

Good advice BC. My comment is a little off topic but related to mixers generally. I'm doing all I can to utilise sustainable options for a lot of things in my new house and was surprised to read on a govt power info page that mixer taps use more power than just about anything else! When I thought about it I realise I turn the taps on and take what I need, before it heats up if it's in that position, rather than ensure it's always on cold to start. The stop start of the HWS gets a workout here I know and I don't think we're the only household guilty of that. The website didn't recommend them. I've now changed my mind about a mixers for the new house and going back to hot and cold taps. Who knew :-0

Are you left or right handed? Place it where ever is the most natural for you to reach. Ensure it's not too close to the wall (if that may be an issue). Cheers, Penelope

100% Retro, and it ultimately depends on the design/vanity/basin set-up. Wall mounted advised if counter top like image above, however bench mixers can fine with inset or under counter basin set-ups. If you want to minimise risks just makes sure it's done well and corners are not cut - I wouldn't be worried about this and if it's good quality not a reason "not to do it. No different to having a shower mixer in the wall - if it goes wrong yes you'll have an expensive repair but this rarely happens with the good gear - hence avoid false economy and invest in the right areas to minimising project risk ;) PD
