a more classic lighter grey roof would work and lots of white including the current verandah railing, you can paint the windows. Your driveway posts are classic and worth working with that for a Hamptons look, great house would be good to see some daylight photos

Hi All, well I've been test painting for days and still so unsure. I think the hardest part is deciding on the gutters etc. In the top photo you can see from left to right. Dune full strength, then Jasper at the other end of same gutter, below that is a white called Surfmist and then there is monument on the lower gutter. I quite liked the monument on the gutter but when tried on the wooden fence it was clearly going to be too much darkness and didn't look good. I'm currently trying Jasper on the fence and other areas but its really a brown colour and again over a large area not sure its going to look all that nice and maybe too dark. When trying lighter colours, white and off whites on the trimmings they looked far too start on the dark roof so I think white/s are out for gutters. Can you have a different coloured fence (wooden panels) to the trimmings on the house? I've been assuming they need to match. I'm fairly happy with half dune on the walls. Any other suggestions for trimmings or thoughts on the colours in this photo? Its doing my head in now!! Second photo was house with lighter colours on the gutters - surfmist and dune I think. I tried a vivid white but it was crazy wrong.

You have a smart, crisp home with a traditional style. It looks like your windows are maybe a powder-coated aluminium in white. It is quite a big exercise to paint these as the frames are so narrow. A smooth powder coated finish needs a bit of preparation (without damaging the glass) to prepare it for new paint. Had you considered where your black paint stops? At the moment the frames look like they are the same colour on the outside as the inside as they are powder-coated aluminium. If you paint them black on the outside, then it will look messy if you leave them white on the inside. I would be maintaining the white window frames and spending the money saved on a better finish for your concrete slab verandah. Possibly a deep blue/grey slab finish similar to Ironstone, and pick up the tiled window sills in the same colour. I would also consider painting gutters, fascias, arched beams and posts all in a crisp white, possibly even Dulux Vivid White, to match the window frames. This scheme will be timeless, understated and elegant, and will complement the red terracotta brick and ironstone roof beautifully. The house looks dated in those colours , but I love that you have a lighter buttery yellow on the wall to the right , and the pump or whatever that square cover is . What I would do to modernise then , is do all the trim in a crisp white ( it looks like the guttering already is ) BUT with maybe a fake vent added to that triangular , and do the triangle in a crisp yellow ( maybe the vent in crisp white ) .
